31st December Women’s Movement KG & Primary School
The 31st December Women’s Movement Kindergarten and Primary School are in dire need of education materials and support to make the process of education smoother for teachers and students alike. The school was one of the 870 pre-schools established by Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, wife of His Excellency Jerry J. Rawlings, President of the Republic of Ghana during his time in office. The school is located in Salaga which is part of the East Gonja District (Savannah Region) – the documented poorest village in Ghana. To view a full report of our work, click HERE.

April 2021 – One of the most devastating challenges from the HBCPG’s Team visit was to learn given the vast and large development happening in the world; children continue to sit under trees that serve as classrooms at the 31st December Women’s Movement Kindergarten and Primary School. According to the staff, students and parents present at the school; students sit under trees to get shade for study since classrooms in the school are not enough to accommodate all the students.
However, a structure erected 12 years ago (see pictures below) to provide new classrooms and a covered area for children to learn has been abandoned since being put into place. Thus, the school is forced to close whenever there is rain due to the inconvenience it may cause for studying.
In an effort to assist, Healthy Black Communities, Inc. has launched a Capital Campaign to raise $100,000 USD to complete the building of this school and provide modern classrooms for children to have and learn in. We invite you to view Ways to Give and select your support platform. All donors of this project will be listed below.
As a way to show our gratitude to those donating $10,000 or more, HBC will name a classroom after your company (only 10 classrooms are a part of the structure), have your logo and colors as a part of the classroom once it is completed and put your company’s name on the Entry Wall to give you credit for your donation and allow it to serve as testimony in the history of the community.
